Ankesh Shahra is the Founder and Managing Director of Agrimax Ventures. His passion lies in learning and adapting innovative technologies and bringing them to life at a grassroots level. He has studied in the United States, and his interest in the dynamics
and economics of Agricultural markets began when he was interning with a broker at the Chicago Board of Trade.
Thereafter, he moved to Singapore for completing his education and also set up the regional headquarters for his family’s commodities business in Singapore. He successfully developed a supply chain and proprietary trading platform for
the group that focused on value trading and arbitrage opportunities in the physical markets.
Further, in order to get the best crop information and data, he also set up the Research desk in India for the group that obtained their yield estimates using crop cutting experiments, satellite data feeds, weather models and field surveys.
This enabled a more quantitative approach to trading strategies. He also worked on setting up agricultural plantations for the company in several countries, and marketed bulk and packaged commodities into various global markets.
With this experience of farming and after facing several emerging market challenges, he set up Agrimax Ventures to focus primarily on farming inefficiencies and developing technology as a means to address them. This Singapore headquartered
Company is now closely tracking the Agri-Tech space for any transformational technology that can boost agricultural productivity, and is developing execution strategies after understanding the landscapes of the target market.
